How will you know he/she is the one?
There are plenty of people that are enjoyable to be around, many who could be compatible with you from a logical standpoint and it isn’t too hard to find chemistry, but how on earth do you know if someone can make you happy “till death do you part”?
That is a question I asked myself for many years before I was anywhere near marriage. Finding my ‘soulmate’ was something I always looked forward to, but there was this over-arching fear that I would never know it was right. So how do you know it is time to take the leap?
While there is no crystal ball that can tell you exactly who you should marry, there are a few signs that can help you answer that question.
1. If you wrote a love song about your relationship would it be happy or sad?
Relationships are full of ups and downs and every healthy marriage has its fair share of lows, but if your love story was made into a movie would the soundtrack have the feel of Taylor Swifts Love Story or would it be more like Hot n Cold by Katey Perry? If you chose the latter than you may not be with your one and only.
2. When you are around them do you feel like singing?
Or doing anything else that you normally wouldn’t do in public, like dancing. If you are going to be with someone for the rest of your life you should feel totally comfortable around them. You should be able to be yourself.
3. Do they make you feel like writing a song?
Being in love should make you feel creative and energetic, it should inspire you to be better. This shouldn’t be a forced feeling, it will come completely naturally. When I first started dating my soon-to-be husband I wrote more songs than I had ever written in my life. Falling for example describes perfectly how falling in love is outside of your control. It can take you completely by surprise, one minute you are going about your business and the next you want to shout your love from the rooftops.
Ultimately it happens a little bit different for everyone and there is no magic trick to determining if someone is right for you, in the end you may just have to take the leap and pray.
