5 Homegating Tips for the Big Game

It can be overwhelming to plan a football homegating party, but with a little preparation it doesn’t need to be. Here are some ideas to make your big game homegating party simple this year.

Make the food prep quick.

No need to overwhelm yourself trying to recreate the most unique football shaped appetizers you saw on Pinterest. Grab a bunch of simple appetizers from the freezer section at the grocery store and pop them in the oven right before the party. Also, some cookie dough from the freezer and some chips, salsa and sour cream, make for the perfect homegating foods. You will save yourself plenty of time in the kitchen, and I guarantee your guests are going to be more focused on the game than the time you spent on the food.

Stock up on the cleaning essentials before the game.

Cleanup can be a nightmare after a party. Stock up on all the essentials, before you have people over, to make cleanup easy. We have a Dollar General down the road from us, so when I heard they have a buy 3 save $3 deal, I ran right over and grabbed a bunch of cleaning supplies. I specifically grabbed some Glad® ForceFlex® bags. They are stronger than regular trash bags and almost never tear, which is why I always get them. They are especially useful for big parties.

Make sure you’re loaded with paper towels for quick mess cleanup.

I stocked up on so many Sparkle® Paper Towels before our homegating party. They are another item in the buy 3 participating items, save $3 at Dollar General (valid 9/24/17-10/21/17) deal, so it worked out well. Paper towels are especially essential during a homegating party since people will likely be eating in your TV room rather than the kitchen. Quick cleanup supplies are a must.

Plan activities for kids during the game.

Zoey and Zander aren’t really old enough to get into the game yet. I like to prepare activities for them, and their baby friends, in advance. Toys, coloring books and kid friendly snacks are a great thing to stock up on.

Use family size storage containers for easy cleanup.

While you are at Dollar General you might want to grab some Glad® Food Containers in the Family Size as well. They made the cleanup process so quick and easy for me! We had a ton of leftovers and none of them would have fit in our regular sized containers. I use the family size containers for everything, but they are especially useful for a party!
