Can you guys believe it is 2018?! People always ask where the time goes, but literally, where does it go?!?! It feels like yesterday that Zoey was a cuddly ball of newborn goodness and now she is a 4 year old, spunky little chatterbox with a baby brother who isn’t really a baby anymore…

The new year is the perfect time to reflect on the last year and decide what changes you want to make moving forward. January is a fresh start. It’s the perfect time to make healthy goals and plans for the future.

I don’t believe that drastic changes and huge goals are a very realistic way to start the new year. Small goals and smart plans, slowly building towards healthy lifestyle changes, are much more effective. That is why my goal for the new year is to start to replace things I eat often, with healthier options. For example, rather than cutting out soda all together, I buy flavored carbonated water or low calorie options. Same goes for cutting out meat. Rather than trying to stop eating it all at once, I am going to replace meat with plant based, protein packed alternatives, like MorningStar Farms® variety of freezer foods. MorningStar Farms® veggie sausage with plant protein power is the better for you way to start your morning off right!

Eating a whole foods, plant based diet, is my ultimate goal for 2018. But that is a far stretch from where I am now, so I am taking it in baby steps. Since so many health problems can be eliminated and avoided by abstaining from meat, it is really important for me to remove that from my diet as much as possible. It is hard to give up something so tasty all together. That is why I love MorningStar Farms® (which you can get at Walmart). You have to taste it to believe it! It really tastes like you are eating meat. MorningStar Farms® isn’t just for vegetarians. They have perfected the flavors and textures of their yummy freezer foods so everyone can enjoy them.

Today I am starting out my morning with one of my favorite new recipes incorporating MorningStar Farms® Sausage Links and Sausage Patties. There are so many different flavors of MorningStar Farms® Sausage Patties and I am slowly trying them all. So far my favorite is the maple flavor! They are all perfect paired with Kris’s sweet potato hash-browns – he makes them for me all the time and they are so good. My love for him goes up a few notches every time he puts a plate of sweet potatoes hash-browns in front of me with some yummy MorningStar Farms® Sausage Patties. Keep reading for the recipe!

Sweet Potato Hash-browns & Vegetarian Sausage Breakfast Recipe

Sweet Potato Hashbrowns Recipe

Ingredients:

– MorningStar Farms® Original Sausage Patties Value Pack

– MorningStar Farms® Maple Flavored and Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties

– Sweet Potatoes

– Olive Oil

– Salt

Sweet Potato Hashbrowns Recipe

Instructions:

1. Cut the sweet potatoes up into 1/2 inch cubes and toss them in a little olive oil and salt to taste.

2. Drizzle some olive oil in a frypan on medium heat.

3. Pour the sweet potatoes into the frypan and cook, flipping regularly, till they are crispy and cooked through. Set aside.

4. Cook the MorningStar Farms® Sausage Patties or Links in the flavor (or flavors) of your choice. They are good as is. Just pop in the microwave for a few minutes (according the directions on the box) and then they are ready to enjoy.

5. Put it all on a plate and eat up. They taste great with a little ketchup, or you can just eat them plain!
