Last week was my blogs three year anniversary! Over the last three years my blog has been through quite an evolution. It has molded to fit my life. Currently I write about parenting, travel, medical school, etc. I share the big things in my life. But my blog actually started out as a place to share my music. As my music grew on Instagram, I decided it was time to build a website for my hobby – and that was when my blog was born.
Over time my blog molded into more of a reflection of my daily life. Although music is still a huge part of my life, being a mom has overtaken most of my time, and you can see that mirrored in the content I share. Since music is still so important to me I recently I decided my hobby needs its own space again. I share music in a totally different format than my blog content. So once again I am going to build a website, just for my music, and this time it is going to stay just for music! I need a place where my side hustle can be the star of the show, instead of just an afterthought to everything else in my life.
My time is pressed right now. So I wanted a website builder that was really user friendly and fast. I decided to use GoCentral by GoDaddy after I read a review from someone saying it took them less than ten minutes to build a professional website with them, and it is totally free for the first 30 days, which gives you time to decide if it is going to be beneficial for your hobby to have it’s own website. As I did more research I discovered GoCentral is specifically designed for small businesses with big dreams and goals. It is the perfect place to build your ‘side hustle’ website. With GoCentral you can get something small off the ground, in an affordable and meaningful way.
It took me about 30 seconds to get my account set up, then I started designing my website. You can check it out here. There are a variety of templates. The text, images and buttons can be customized to your taste quite easily. In the past I have spent a lot of money on hiring people to set up and design my website. I did this website entirely by myself without any trouble. It didn’t take my 10 minutes to build like the reviewer said, but in less than an hour I had it looking good and ready to publish. You definitely don’t need any previous experience to build a website for your hobby or small business with GoCentral.
My plans for Rachael Burgess Music are to use it as a hub for all my music. That way I can start sending it to agencies for auditions and to big YouTube pages and Instagram pages I want to be featured on. It is kind of like a CV for my music! I love blogging, but music is in my heart, it is my true passion. And I am so excited to take that side hustle to the next level with a website of it’s very own.
What is your side hustle? Do you make cakes, paint pictures, sell t-shirts or walk dogs? What would you make your website about?
