Where Should We Move Next?

Now is the point in our medical school career that we get to start prepping for rotations! Sometime next week we will get the official list of rotation sites and will have to submit our top six choices.

For those of you who don’t know, medical school is broken up into two, two year segments. The first two years are book learning, studying, lectures, etc. and practicing on your fellow students and actors. The second two years are clinicals, it is the practical application portion of your education. You get to follow doctors around in different hospitals and clinic sites and learn from them. You are required to do a bunch of specific rotations like pediatrics, family practice, obstetrics, etc. and then you can choose some elective ones in the fourth year. Most people have to move for their rotations since hospitals sites are all over the country. Right now our top choices are Cleveland and Erie, we are guessing based off of last years list of rotations sites . We are also considering Niagara Falls, we haven’t got the official list yet so it is hard to make any definite decisions.

Anyways – before I got on that tangent I was going to say we decided to visit Cleveland and see if we would actually want to live there. The suburb community that we would be living in if we moved there actually seemed quite ideal for our family. We found an apartment complex that is literally across the road from a mall… Which I would love and Kris would probably hide my credit card, and it is a gated community with a pool, gym and playground, which would be such a nice change after living in the ghettooooooo that we live in now. Anyways we didn’t take pictures in Cleveland… Silly us. But I got some adorable pictures in our hotel room of Zoey doing her hair all by herself and thought I would share. We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot. I actually loved the hotel, the room was big – enough room for a crib and it had a king size bed (I was thanking heaven because I don’t think we requested one, and I like cuddling with Kris…. But queens are just a little too cuddly for me). The room was very modern and felt like an upscale hotel. They had a pool and hot tub which was our favorite part of course because we are fish and love the water.

So back to Cleveland though. Sorry I am scatterbrained right now. I was up till 4am last night and then got woken up by a sweet angel at 7am so in the past 36 hours I have gotten about 3 hours of sleep. Which is fine I hate sleeping. It is such a waste of precious time! Wow. Another tangent. Cleveland. Every time I mention to someone that we are thinking of going to Ohio they get this disgusted look on their face, like I told them I wanted to move into a cardboard box or something. I don’t understand. The area we went to was so beautiful. Tell me what I am missing people? What is so horrible about Cleveland – side note we wouldn’t actually be in Cleveland we would be in a smaller town about an hour away.

If you had to choose, where would you live and why? Our top choices in New York are Binghamton, Buffalo and Far Rockaway. For Ohio we have Cleveland, Chillicothe and Buffalo. Then there are a hundred little towns in Pennsylvania that I don’t feel particularly drawn to, probably because although I love the Pittsburgh area, I am ready for a change of scenery. Any and all help would be appreciated!

  1. Thanks for the note anon! That is true, it would be really cool to be bear New York city, especially when it comes to auditioning for shows like The Voice it would be nice. Thanks for your help!

  2. I live in New York and it is a great place the more you go north the safer the areas get. It’s great because at any time the city is alive and you can do whatever you want. Great food and activities!
