We spent a fun morning at the zoo this weekend. It was poring rain by the time we got there so it wasn’t very busy, anyone who knows Zoey knows that she isn’t scared off by a little bit of rain. We got really wet, but had a blast. Zoey did tell me a few times that I should have brought a ‘blella’ (umbrella) 🙈☔️… Oops. It wasn’t raining when we left the house though!

At the zoo we saw a lot more animals than usual, apparently they like to come out in the rain. I bet it is refreshing after all the hot days in the sun. The most exciting part was an angry cheetah that was pouncing at the glass whenever a child came near or touched the glass! He looked hungry and angry and I would NOT have felt safe if there wasn’t thick glass between us and him. After that incident with the gorilla at the Cleveland Zoo I have found myself scanning all the perimeters of every cage to make sure there is no way in or out and so far I haven’t found any thank heavens. Toddlers are so small and fast and love to explore, luckily for me Zoey is a little more timid and usually always stays within sight. I have known a lot of more adventurous toddlers though that can literally disappear in a second.

My favorite part of a day at the zoo is always the orangoutangs, they have a whole little family at the zoo we go to and the baby is SO cute. They are always cuddling up in their blankets and playing peekaboo at the glass. The zoo is so close to us so we have been going a lot lately. I think we might make it a rainy day tradition now.

  1. This is so fun! I can’t wait until I can take my little guy to the zoo. He loves watching animals! I also love Zoey’s little tunic, by the way.

    1. it is Zoey’s favorite place, I am sure your little cutie is going to love it too. We loved the Honolulu Zoo. You should definitely check it out.
