Getting the Kiddies Ready for Winter Weather

When we got home (back to our hotel in Yonkers) last week from the Hamptons, all I wanted to do was go back to the beach. Up till the Hamptons, the last time I saw the ocean was in Canada, but that was a quick visit. I love the west coast beaches, but nothing beats sandy beaches and waves like they have in the Hamptons or Florida…. or Hawaii. So from day one back in Yonkers I started making plans to head to the beach the moment we got back to Erie. It is the closest thing I will get to the ocean for now.

Unfortunately, beaches out our way aren’t quite the same as Florida or Hawaii. Bathing suits are only appropriate dress for a few short months of the year. The rest the year you have to dress your kids as if you were getting ready for playing in the snow! Since I grew up in such a warm place, I have a habit of under dressing for the weather. But I am not going to let that happen this year. Before we even got home to Erie I ordered winter clothes for the kids so we could go straight to the beach when we got home!

Kids usually love playing in the snow. But unlike adults – they grow taller every year. They can’t keep wearing the same winter gear for years in a row! Because of this, winter shopping can get a little pricey. I stick to brands that offer high quality at affordable prices when I winter shop for the kids. This year I ordered The North Face Kids winter gear. They check all the boxes for style, quality and price. Zappos is where I ordered from. The free shipping and return shipping, plus 365 day return policy, helps me save even more money. Zappos is my go to online clothing store. Zappos makes it so simple to try something on and then send it back if it doesn’t fit. Replacements or refunds all can happen for free with just a few clicks, no questions asked. I know because I have used this feature often when I shop to get a new size or send back something I didn’t end up liking.

Our Zappos package was waiting for us when we got home from Yonkers. So we put the kids new North Face winter gear to the test right away. I wasn’t sure if Zander would be too big and active for a snowsuit. It actually worked out perfectly though. This snowsuit kept his whole body warm. He wasn’t able to fill up his pants with snow, something he is really good at doing. It allows him to tumble through the snow to his hearts content without getting a freezing cold surprise up his back or down his pants. I am also obsessed with the sherpa lined interior that makes this snowsuit so cozy and soft.

Zoey is a little less clumsy with her play. She is safe to play in the snow without a full body snowsuit. There is less risk of her filling her top and bottoms with snow. Her favorite color is purple right now, so I grabbed her a violet colored jacket and purple boots! All The North Face Kids styles come in so many color options, so it was easy to find something perfectly suited to dress my kiddies.

We didn’t end up going to the beach when we got home, it was way too snowy and the ice on the lake can be a little scary for the kids. But when we went out to play in the snow at home I was really glad we had all our gear from The North Face Kids. Since we were so cuddly warm we got to stay awhile and enjoy the winter wonderland. Zander’s favorite thing was when Zoey would pick up a handful of snow and yell, “Achooo!!!” while throwing it up in the air. He laughed hysterically every single time. I love that they make each other laugh!!

Do you have snow yet? Are you and your kids all ready for playing in the snow this season?
