Tomorrow marks exactly two weeks to my due date. For those of you who have been following along my personal Instagram you will know I have been going back and forth a lot between whether or not I am ready to have this baby! On one hand I am SO excited to meet him. I think I am even more excited this time around because I have experienced what it is like to love your babe so incredibly much. Watching Zoey grow and learn and become has been the most incredible thing, there is nothing more special. On the other hand I know what it is like going through labor, delivery and RECOVERY… Ugh. Not something I look forward to.
In any case, being 38 weeks, I know it is going to be sometime soon. I have my hospital bags packed, the bassinet set up, the nursery is clean, diapers are stocked. Zoey and I have been talking a lot about what is going to happen when “baby brother is ready to come out” (code for when I go into labor). The other thing I have been talking to her about is that I am going to be a little more busy than normal taking care of the baby after he is born. We have planned special activities just for when I am nursing.
Like I talked about in this post one of the things I have prepared are special ‘nursing buckets’ full of fun activities, games and crafts. She is really excited about those. In the beginning you nurse A LOT though so I to fill up more of her time when she gets bored of crafting and toys I have been downloading educational apps for toddlers that she can play with. I just discovered Amazon Underground, a treasure trove of completely FREE apps. You can download the Amazon Underground app on your Android phone and from there you can get unlimited free apps and games, including a large variety of educational apps for toddlers.
For those parents who are worried about kids downloading paid apps, this is the perfect solution! Zoey could play games on the phone for hours if I let her. I am always careful to monitor the time. I never feel guilty though when she is playing educational apps. She has learned so much from playing on the phone! Now she knows so many letters and even some of their sounds. She is perfect at shapes and colors, she even learned how to count to ten. It is like having a little mini teaching assistant on hand which I love! You can learn more here.
As you can tell from the video below, we are already really enjoying Amazon Underground. There are so many well known educational apps on here. I wanted to use them for her before, but didn’t want to pay! All I had to do was download Amazon Underground on my Android phone. Then I signed into my Amazon account. Now can access them all for free. The phone isn’t even my actual phone. It was a really cheap one I got awhile back for a work thing (only like $60 if I remember correctly). Now I have no use for it so it is Zoey’s! Haha.

I think it is impossible to be completely ready for a new baby… But we are doing our best by preparing small things like this. What did you do to get ready for baby number 2? Do educational apps for toddlers entertain your little kiddies and help them learn? What do you do to entertain your kids when you need to get something done? I look forward to reading your comments!!
