Fall is here!! I absolutely love fall. Cozy sweaters, crisp air, golden leaves and the smell of nutmeg everywhere. Really there is nothing better… I know I say that about every season, I think I just love change. Fall is especially welcome right now though since I am 38 weeks pregnant. I get SO hot when I am this pregnant. Sitting outside on the porch and feeling the cool breeze is my absolute favorite. Eating breakfast on the porch has become mine and Zoey’s morning tradition ever since the weather cooled.
I have just started pulling out all the buckets of fall coats, boots, scarves and sweaters I packed away last year. Most of the sweaters and coats don’t fit yet… But pretty soon my stomach will be (somewhat) flat and my arms will be totally full. When that happens all of my jackets and sweaters will be given tons of love. Today I thought I would share with you what I think the most important fall style staples are. I was going to call them maternity fall style staples, but these really go for everybody. Whether you are pregnant or not. These are absolutely closet essentials for fall.
1. Boots
Boots are without question number one on my fall style staples list! I used to look for the cheapest price tag, which resulted in quickly worn, hole heeled boots that barely lasted a season. Now my top priorities are quality, durability and style. This season I chose this pair of Clarks Originals from Zappos. Clarks are known for quality and fashion. I love the classic bootie style with the small platform heel. The heel is high enough to give it a dressed up, stylish look, but low enough that it is still super comfortable to walk in. Platforms shoes are majorly in this season. I always tend towards the less extreme side of fads. This classic pair fits the trend bill, but isn’t so out there that it will be out of style next fall.
2. Loose Knit Sweaters
This is another of the fall style staples that almost goes without saying! I have accumulated SO many sweaters over the years and I have started to notice that the loose knit sweaters tend to stand the test of time a little better than tight knits. The crocheted yarn look just feels so cozy and chic at the same time. I love this one, it is almost identical to the one I am wearing in the pictures, but in cream color! It is also from Zappos… I just love Zappos’ super fast shipping, awesome customer service and 365 day returns! You can’t beat that.
3. Scarves!!!
I love accessories that serve a purpose, which is one of the reasons scarves are such an important item on my list of fall style staples. I am the worst at wearing jewelry… I buy it occasionally and always forget to actually put it on. I feel like scarves replace necklaces for the fall season. Since they keep me warm I don’t forget to wear them like I do with jewelry! You can jazz up an outfit with a cool print or bright colored scarf like I did in this outfit. Or you can temper eye-catching patterns and bold colors with a simple, solid toned scarf, like this one.
The awesome thing about these three fall style staples is they work really well for winter too. I feel justified going on a shopping spree for all of these since I am preparing for two seasons. These Clarks will definitely be worn next fall and winter too. I am really investing in the next two years (at least) with them. What are your favorite fall styles? What is the one thing you can’t wait to wear once the weather cools down?? 🍂🍂🍂

Omg. I need a pair of those boots!! Great outfit combination! Love!!
I love them! They seem to go with everything.
I have always been a sucker for suede boots and I was really pleased to see that they come in a gorgeous grey suede. I wish I was daring enough to wear the rust suede ones. They are really beautiful.
My closet is full of neutral brown and gray and black boots so I wanted to change things up! I am actually surprised with how well the rust color seems to go with everything. Thanks Sonja 🙂
