Hershey Halloween Party

I will probably say this about 100 other holidays before a year passes BUT…. Halloween is the BEST holiday ever! I feel like I am re-experiencing it all over again now that I have a toddler. I have had some Halloween party ideas brewing in my mind lately and wanted to share them with you. I probably was one of the first people to shop the new Halloween display at Walmart. Should have I been embarrassed to walk out of the store with literally an entire shopping cart full to the brim of Hershey Halloween candy and party supplies for my Halloween party? I wasn’t, I was just excited.

For my party I created a sweet Halloween Village on my kitchen table complete with monsters, candy frankensteins, a haunted Halloween house, blood soda, a spooky cauldron, graveyard, pumpkin patch and more. I made all the treats using Hershey candies from their large variety bags at Walmart, it is amazing how much you can make from just one bag! I made so many treats and still have more than half of the candy left over and may or may not be eating it while I write this. I will include tutorials below but first check out some pics of how the party turned out!

I stuck to Hershey candy mostly since it is the best… When I went in to Walmart I raided the candy racks and got all the large variety bags of Hershey candies I could find. Here is the candy I bought but you can make all the treats from my tutorials below by just buying one or two bags:

Reese’s Peanut Butter Monster Tutorial

This is a super simple way to make mini monsters out of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. They are cute and delicious – just ask Zoey, she would have eaten all of them before I even got a picture if I let her…

  1. Remove Peanut Butter Cups from package
  2. Squeeze the icing straight on to the top of the cup, start in the center and work your way out in a spiral doing one blob at a time.
  3. Stick on the eyeballs and the teeth! All done.

Candy Frankenstein Tutorial

My next easy monster creation was a little Frankenstein with Hershey’s & Heath bars. This used purple, black and red icing, candy eyeballs and the candy axe is optional.

  1. Unwrap candy
  2. Use icing to glue the Heath bar to the top of the Hershey bar.
  3. Cover the Heath in green icing
  4. Cover half the Hershey in purple icing to create Frankensteins shirt
  5. Use the red and black for hair, ears and mouth details
  6. Attach candy eyes and axe. Wala! Frankenstein.

I made a whole army of candy Frankensteins in minutes and although they don’t look too ‘scary’ per say they are exceptionally sweet and delicious, and a popular party favor!FrankensteinTutorial

Candy Graveyard Tutorial:

This one is the most work but it was by far my favorite! You will need a variety of Hershey mini chocolate bars, a chocolate cake mix, green and white icing and milk duds. I also used candy bones and mini plastic skulls as extra decorations but they are not required.

  1. Bake chocolate cake according to the directions on the box and allow about 1 hour to cool.
  2. In the mean time unwrap your candies and using the white icing write R.I.P on the top of each creating ‘gravestones’
  3. Put cake onto a tray or platter with the rounded side (top) on top. I cut stairs out of the front of mine to add dimension
  4. Ice the cake using a spatula and the green icing
  5. Make a cobblestone path through the graveyard using Milk Duds
  6. Place gravestones around the cake
  7. Add additional decorations, I dug up one of the graves and left a pile of crumpled cake crumbs next to it to make things a little more interesting.

The graveyard is a little more hearty than the other treats and it definitely added extra ‘spooky’ factor to the table.

graveyard combinedYou can decorate your haunted gingerbread house however you want but I loved the look of the rolled out Jolly Rancher chews as a cobblestone patio around the house and thought the Jolly Rancher Suckers combined with orange straws made great lamp posts!GingerBreadHauntedHouse

I made a few other fun treats but those were my favorites! I am sure it is obvious, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I can’t believe it is only a month away. This will be Zoey’s 3rd Halloween since she was born but it will be the first one that she will be able to trick-or-treat and I can’t wait!DSC_2267DSC_2280 DSC_2307DSC_2320 DSC_2322DSC_2337DSC_2330 DSC_2349 DSC_2357 DSC_2335 DSC_2377DSC_2289

Hopefully you will have as much fun as I did getting ready to celebrate this haunted season in a sweet and spooky way with Hershey! What Halloween party plans do you have?

  1. Those little Frankensteins are SO cute!!! Definitely could see me recreating those for the boys and their friends! And love that spooky punch in the middle! How did you make it smoke?? Love it! #client

    1. I bought a little fog machine from walmart! It was in the halloween section and it was only $10 I think… Can’t remember the exact price, you just add water too it, it is awesome. So glad you enjoyed the post.
