How to Design a Delightful Bedroom for 3 Crazy Kids

It is SO fun having a home to call our own! Ever since we moved into our house in May I have been slowly working room by room to create beautiful spaces. It is a slow process since I am still made pretty sick with physical activity, but I have had some early nesting bursts kick in and push me to get more done. This week we finished up Zoey and Zander’s room – I am planning on having the baby in the room with them as well. But I still have a lot of work to do on the nursery portion of the room, so I will wait and post that separately when I am done.

Twin Size Loft Bed w/ Slide

We decided to try transitioning Zander to a big kid bed over the next few months. I want the crib to be empty when this baby arrives! We have been doing a night here and there out of the crib and Zander was doing ok with it, so we decided to purchase a big kid bed. I thought it would make the transition more fun. This slide bunk bed definitely filled the ‘fun’ order. Needless to say Zoey and Zander LOVE their new big kid slide bunk bed. And guess how much this slide bed was!? Only $165! I was shocked you could get a twin size loft bed with a slide for so cheap. The mattresses cost more than the bed!!

Artwork

The other element of the room I loved picking out was the artwork! We received some beautiful metal art from Displate to help complete the look in Zoey and Zander’s room. Displate prints posters on metal and the results are breathtaking! I picked out several nature themed pieces that I thought would bring a calming element to the kids room, while also tying in the color scheme I wanted.  The collection of art on the Displate website is huge and quite lovely, but the pieces themselves were much more stunning in real life than I even expected after shopping. They work great as a stand alone piece and have no need of a frame. I got the Spring Forest Lake, Golden Peaks and Moonlit Ocean!

Mattresses

Another fun part of the decorating process was getting Zoey and Zander’s big kid mattresses. In our guest bedroom we have had a Lull mattress for about a year now. Any time I can’t sleep I sneak in there and fall asleep almost instantly. This mattress is heaven in my experience, so Lull was an easy choice when I was looking for mattresses for the kids.

Bed Accessories

These cute tassel pom-pom fleece throw blankets  were at Tuesday Morning last week. The kids love them. I just realized I really should have gotten a third for this baby girl so I may have to head back there soon. I tried to find a similar pom-pom tassel throw for those of you who don’t live near a Tuesday Morning and I couldn’t – but look how adorable this one is?! Just click and see. I am dying over it, but can’t decide if it is too pricey for a throw… I also picked up the cuddle pillows there. Zoey is obsessed with unicorns lately and these cuddle pillows were only $7… So I really didn’t have a good reason to say no to the unicorn cuddle pillow. It is soooo soft I want to steal it! I got Zander a shark cuddle pillow and he loves it.

I am still on the hunt for bedding – so if you have any recommendations send them my way! Right now I have a queen sheet tucked around Zoey’s mattress, while I look for the perfect set that will suit both Zoey and Zander, and match the decor I already have in the room.

Which room in our house do you guys want to see next?
