A Little Peek Into Our Lives + Some Big Questions

Today I thought I would give you all a little peek into our lives PLUS some questions at the end. We are considering some big-ish purchases and need help deciding.

My life basically revolves around nursing and naps these days. Zander is (obviously) still a baby, which means his schedule changes weekly. I don’t know if it is because he is way bigger than Zoey was and needs to eat more, or if it is because I’ve been a little more lax with my scheduling, but Zander is not as consistent with sleeping through the night as Zoey was. It seems to be one week on and one week off. Good weeks he sleeps 10 hours, off weeks he does about 6-7. The only problem with this is I usually don’t go to bed till 1 or 2am so I get a lot less sleep.

It is tiring, but I don’t mind too much. I read somewhere the other day that being tired is inevitable as a new mom. You can either be tired and angry, or you can just be tired.

Zoey has been saying the most hilarious things recently. She has a new bunk bed and the ladder is a little slippery, so I told her not to climb it with socks on. She said to me, “Why mom, are my socks trippy??” (where did she even get the word ‘trippy’?!?! hahaha). I told her they were to ‘trippy’ and she immediately asked me why. When I told her I didn’t know why, she said, “Ugh. Why did Jesus make my socks so trippy mommy??!” 😂😂😂😂

On another topic, it has been snowing SO much. Everyone told me that I would hate winter in Erie, and I was confused because winter had never bothered me before. Now I understand. Winter in Erie is different than other places. The Lake Erie lake effect (water evaporating, turning into snow, and blowing onto land) makes the snow thick, windy and pretty intense. The snow blows in on the wind and covers everything. When it snows, it really snows. Like doesn’t let up for three days straight kind of snows. I do have to say it is just gorgeous to watch sitting by the fire all cozy. And since we have a two car garage it doesn’t really prevent me from getting out of the house (I hate cleaning snow off my car)!!

All this snow has gotten me thinking of tropical vacations. I am itching to head back to Hawaii! But I really want to try somewhere new (and inexpensive). We also have been thinking about our hot tub dream a lot. Kris and I have always wanted a hot tub. Now we are actually considering buying one because we have the perfect hot tub deck. Sitting in a hot tub surrounded by snow is so dreamy sounding to me. We always had a hot tub growing up and I miss it. So that leads me to two questions for you guys, if you don’t mind helping me out:

1. What is the cheapest tropical vacation spot in March-May??

2. Should we get a hot tub?? Why/why not??

  1. I’d love a hot tub, it’s definitely something that I’d do in the future 🙂 Also, regarding baby sleeping situation, I think all babies sleep differently regardless of what routines you may have, just as grown ups have different sleep patterns, babies do too 🙂

  2. Get a hot tub! Chris’s parents have one and it is always a highlight of going there. Going in while it is snowing is almost magical! And I could see Zoey doing lots of snow dips and then jumping back in. It also makes for a perfect and easy date night without having to leave the house! I don’t know much about travel destinations though, I can’t wait to hear what other people have to say.

  3. cheapest “Tropical” Vacation would be to come out to the West Coast. Saltspring Island and Vancouver Island. (well I did put ” marks around “Tropical” It really isn’t so bad out here. Also I used to take pictures of my kids in bathing suits, me included, in the snow. It was fun and looked hilarious. AND IT MADE JUMPING IN THE HOT TUB A LOT MORE FUN!!
