DSC_0556When you are planning to take photos or a video it is important to do something a little extra with your makeup in order for it to really shine in the photos. I often get asked what products I use for my makeup in my music videos on Instagram, especially what mascara I use.  I decided I would do a quick tutorial to share with you guys how I do my makeup for my music videos in a way that makes my eyes really pop. For this tutorial I am just going to focus on the eyes, I already have my foundation and blush applied in my starting picture below! So first step before the first step – apply your foundation and blush!DSC_0526

Step 1 – Eyeshadow

I usually use Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quads in Sunlit Bronze. It is really great because it provides the perfect pallet for your whole eye, including liner. First apply the lightest color as a base over your entire lid and all the way up to your brow line. I use the next shade up – the gold tinged one – for my lid, apply it generously over your whole lid. The next shade up should be applied to the outer edge of your crease, use a blending brush after applying this shade to blend upwards towards the outer edge of your eyebrow. The darkest color can be used as a liner.

HINTS: Get the tip of the makeup brush wet before dipping it in the eyeshadow and then apply the shadow wet as a liner for a bolder look. Hold a piece of tissue paper under your bottom lashes the entire time you apply eyeshadow to ensure that none of the loose powder falls below your eyes.

Step 2 – Lipstick

I am always changing which shade of lipstick I use but right now I am stuck on Maybelline’s Creamy Matte collection, the color I used here is called Daringly Nude (655 if you want to go by numbers). I picked it up at Walmart last week and have been wearing it daily.

HINTS: I don’t use a lip liner ever, instead I pay careful attention to apply lipstick right to the edge of my lip line instead. Make your lipstick last a longer by lightly dusting it with a translucent sealing powder.DSC_0599DSC_0657 DSC_0549

Step 3 – Mascara

I have searched for a long time for the perfect mascara and I have FINALLY found it. I have tried so many different brands and none of them give me quite as much volume as I want. Recently I started using false eyelashes to see if I would like those, I like the look, but they are too messy and time consuming to be practical for every day use, not to mention how difficult it can be to wash all the glue off later on.

I heard about Maybelline Falsies Pushup Drama mascara and decided to give it a try. Can I just say I will never use another mascara again. Period. The brush has a push up, patented cup shape – the first ever brush of its kind. I have seen plenty of mascaras that say ‘volume and lift’ on the package but they all turn out to be just like any other regular mascara.Maybelline Falsies Pushup Drama does not only talk the talk, it walks the walk. It delivers everything it says it will. It is extremely volumizing and is the first mascara ever to give a 45 degree lift. Not to mention that unlike false eyelashes, it can be applied in seconds.

HINT: Apply your mascara normally, let it dry and then apply a second coat, this gives a little extra volume and length.

Step 4 – Eyebrows

While waiting for my first coat of mascara to dry I do my eyebrows. In the past I have never done my eyebrows since they are naturally quite dark, but while I was shopping at Walmart for the Falsies Pushup Drama mascara I saw the Maybelline Eyestudio Brow Define + Fill Duo and thought it would be fun to give it a try. I did not even realize what I have been missing all this time! I got the Auburn color and it matches my natural eyebrow color perfectly, I do not put a lot on, I just use it to fill spots where my eyebrows look a little thinner. I first use the pencil end to fill in the gaps and give my eyebrow a little more definition, then I seal it in with the powder and brush on the other side of the pencil. Easy.
