Looking at these pictures from last week makes me a little bit sad because I realize that we are not fully taking advantage of this beach! I don’t think we have been once this week… 😭 I wish we lived right on the beach and could just walk out. I know it sounds super lazy, but even a twenty minute drive can sound exhausting when you are pregnant and sick ALL. THE. TIME. When I was pregnant with Zoey I swore I would never be pregnant during the summer again, but here I am literally with the exact same due date I had with Zoey three years later hahaha. So glad we have a pool in our apartment complex because I definitely have been jumping in there whenever it is super hot but I don’t have energy to drive to the beach. So refreshing. Being pregnant is like having a little heating blanket on you constantly, so I am diving in the pool even when it is too cold for Kris and Z.

I do have to say finding a maternity beach outfit is so much easier than finding a regular maternity outfit so that is one thing I cannot complain about being pregnant in the summer. Beach dresses are always so flowy and airy. It is easy to find something cool and comfortable to wear to the beach which is what I am all about this pregnancy. Being cool and comfortable!

So this bump update is a tiny bit early (I will be 24 weeks tomorrow), but I am not planning to post tomorrow so I thought I would share it now. I want it to be different than my previous updates so I am just going to make it up as I go.

How far along: 24 weeks

Favorite part of being pregnant: Knowing that in a few short months I will be holding a little human that has never walked this earth before and knowing I will be able to be there as he experiences everything for the first time. It is such an awe inspiring (and intimidating!!) thought.

Still sick: YES. Been really sick again this week and haven’t gained any weight since my last update😕 I called a doctor for a zofran refill (the nausea medication I take) and they told me “you are 23 weeks, you can’t be sick anymore”. SERIOUSLY. I feel like the doctors should know that hyperemesis gravidarum is something that doesn’t go away magically when you turn 23 weeks. It lasts the whole blessed nine months. Anyways… That convo ended in tears and with me finding a new doctor that will hopefully be more sensitive. I promise I wouldn’t take the meds if I didn’t need them, but not taking them puts my babies health at risk since I throw up so much and get dehydrated, start having contractions and could go into early labor potentially. I want to eat food! And I want to gain weight!

Pregnancy brain moment of the week: I went out to buy a new bathing suit for my changing body… chose out the perfect one. Somehow I mixed them up while shopping and came home with not only the wrong size, but also the wrong suit (different color). How did I not notice this during check out????

Zoey quote of the day: Ok I know this isn’t pregnancy related. I told her she looked pretty and she replied, “No mommy, say CLUTE. I am CLUTE!” (clute means cute😂).

  1. Rachael, your reflections on introducing a new human being to the earth and being their while he grows up is very good. What a marvelous way to look at the next few years ahead for you. Bless you. If you want to gain more weight EAT MORE. Just my humble suggestion. Rach, don’t you just love getting advice from men, even male doctors on how you should be feeling and conducting your life? Ha ha I’m an expert on this matter, Duh.
