Today I thought I would share with you all a simple makeup tutorial. This is how I do my makeup every single day lately. It is so easy and I even have a few secret hacks that will help speed up your morning makeup routine. Basically if you are a busy gal without a lot of time in front of the mirror in the morning this look is for you.

In the past year Rimmel has slowly been taking over my vanity and makeup case, so you may notice that theme in this tutorial. I usually shop at places like Target for my makeup and have tried so many different brands. Rimmel is my favorite in almost every makeup category and I am especially excited to let you guys in on a new product they launched that is going to bring your eyelashes to the next level. Everything you need for this tutorial is pictured below and can be purchased at Target!

Morning Makeup Routine

  1. I start with foundation. I cover my entire face and blend down my neck as well. I have pretty clear skin, but I still use foundation because I love how it evens out my complexion. I use Rimmel Stay Matte because the cream texture is not too glossy or greasy, it has a very matte finish. You don’t even need to add a finishing powder over this foundation. Morning makeup routine by Rachael Burgess
  2. I always like to add a little bit of contour. Using the Kate Sculpting Kit by Rimmel it doesn’t take more than 30 seconds. A little of the contour powder goes under my cheekbones, on the sides of my nose and in an arch at the top of my forehead. Then I blend it with the highlight powder right under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose and on my forehead. I finish off with a little blush.Morning makeup routine by Rachael Burgess Morning makeup routine by Rachael Burgess
  3. Next I use the Brow This Way (also from the Rimmel London collection… I really am obsessed with this line!). I never do a lot with this. Just a little filling here and there. I have really dark eyebrows naturally so a little goes a long way.Morning makeup routine by Rachael Burgess
  4. I use the Rimmel London Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner with the felt tip. When I first started wearing liquid liner it was so difficult to apply. It was only when I discovered the felt tip that it became easy. This particular liner will literally last ALL day. I love to do a little bit of a cat eye as I think it makes your eyelashes look even longer.Morning makeup routine by Rachael Burgess
  5. Next is mascara. This is where I will let you in on the secret time saving hack I mentioned above for speeding up your morning makeup routine. A few weeks ago I discovered Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara and was intrigued right away. It promises to slowly tint your eyelashes over time so that even when you aren’t wearing mascara your eyelashes are darker. This is fabulous for me on the days where I don’t have time to put on makeup! I will include a before and after picture below so you can see how it has worked for me. Although the full effect takes 2-4 weeks, the semi-permanent tint starts to show up after the first application. For best results you should use it daily for at least two weeks. Basically I curl my lashes like normal and then apply the Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara. And yes, I know, I make crazy faces when I put on mascara.Morning makeup routine by Rachael Burgess Morning makeup routine by Rachael BurgessMorning makeup routine by Rachael Burgess
  6. Last, lipstick!! The only line of lipstick I use these days is Kate by Rimmel. I use the tip of the lipstick as a liner and then fill it in like normal.Morning makeup routine by Rachael Burgess Morning makeup routine by Rachael Burgess

So there you have my go to morning makeup routine. I LOVE that I am able to completely skip the mascara step some days thanks to Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara… It is a life saver on those mornings when my two year old is pulling on my arm saying, “Come play with me mama…”, while doing that cute little pouty face kids do. That is her go to tactic when she wants me. I think she has figured out how hard she is to resist when she says that.

Right now Target has an irresistible cartwheel offer going on. You get 25% Off all Rimmel Eye products featuring Volume Colourist Mascara. Check out that deal here. You can read more fun blog posts about Rimmel here, I have been browsing them and love all the inspo.

I would love to hear from you what type of time saving hacks you use for your morning makeup routine! I am always looking for ways to speed up my routine and spend more time on my to-do list (or playing with my two year old because honestly that is way more fun than makeup or to-do lists). XOXOXO

  1. I wish I could be quick in my morning makeup routine but I take at least an hour from washing my face to finishing makeup. LOL! I love Kate Rimmel lipsticks in general, they are some of the best in the drugstore. I actually just bought two in shade 107 and As You Want Victoria.
