Today I have been thinking a lot about an incident that takes place in The Book of Mormon, an important book of scripture in my church. At the very beginning of the book a man named Lehi, who is very wealthy and lives in Jerusalem, receives direction from the Lord that he should leave his home and travel in the wilderness to a promise land that the Lord will lead his family to. The Lord warns him that people are plotting to take away his life because of his belief in God and that the city of Jerusalem is soon to be taken captive. Him and his family faithfully leave and begin keeping a record of their history and their spirituality. It is because of this act of faith that we have the entire Book of Mormon today. It is a really inspiring record, a beautiful book of scripture filled with amazing stories of faith as the record was passed from generation to generation. Eventually the book documents the Savior coming to visit them in the Americas after He was resurrected. It is really powerful because it adds another witness to the Bible of Christ’s resurrection.

I was just reading in the second chapter of the book this morning and I couldn’t help but think how much good can take place because one person has the faith to take action and do something hard, or scary, or unknown, or exciting. Amazing accomplishments always begin as small actions.

It also made me think of how Kris and I becoming friends when I was only 12 years old has blossomed into so much more, now we are happily married and have a beautiful daughter. There is no saying how many more children Kris and I, our children and their children will have – and it all starts with two people. Something small.

Anyways. That was just on my mind today. If you ever feel like something you are doing is small, or not worthwhile, just remember you have no idea what type of impact it will have on your future and what a far reach your influence may have. You are more powerful than you realize.

In a couple hours our churches semi-annual General Conference starts and I can’t wait to watch it, I already know it will be filled with inspiring messages. Join me in watching it by clicking here and comment to let me know what your favorite talk/quote was!
