Life Catchup Post #1 | Sailport Waterfront Suites⛵

This past little while has been SO busy. The holidays are coming up, and with that a lot of brands are wanting to promote their products in time for Christmas. That means lots of work for influencers like me. While I have been blogging more than ever, somehow I feel more disconnected from my readers than normal. Rather than sharing personal thoughts and stories, I have been sharing lots of tutorials, Christmas gift ideas, sponsored content, etc. Today I want to press pause on all that, take a little breather, and catch you guys up on some of the recent happenings in my life. I will start with my Florida trip, since that is when things started to get a little extra hectic.

We decided to head to Florida about 3 weeks ago, after Spirit offered to host us for a vacation (wrote all about my Spirit experience here). We flew to Orlando and headed straight to our hotel in Tampa. Once we got there we stayed at the Sailport Waterfront Suites because they offer full suites, rather than just rooms! We had two bedrooms and a kitchen. The balcony overlooking the ocean view from our room was so breathtaking.

After we settled in our hotel room we hopped in the car and drove up to Clearwater beach. I love Clearwater beach, the sand is so fine and white and sparkly. I took some home with me in a jar… We got there just in time for the sunset which was gorgeous, but when we left we lost Zoey’s brand new shoe! Just one of the pair. We were going to walk around the town at night, but Zander was starting to get really sad. He seemed sick and I thought it was teething, so we drove to CVS and grabbed some baby tylenol and headed back to Sailport Waterfront Suites.

At our hotel Zander’s sadness quickly turned into a wheezing cough that definitely sounded like croup. Zoey has had croup before too. It is one of my least favorite sicknesses for my kids to have. Hearing your baby gasping for breath in between those AWFUL, raspy coughs is just so heartbreaking. I was two seconds from bringing him to the emergency room, it sounded so bad. But my dad (a doctor) assured me that if he was breathing and didn’t have a fever he would be fine. I slept beside him the entire night to make sure he was ok. I probably woke up 5 times just to hold him while he coughed. By the next day he was much better, which felt like a miracle!!

The next day Zander was much better, so we decided to hit our favorite spot in Tampa, Busch Gardens (more on that later). We spent the entire day there and even Zander had fun going on the rides and playing in the kid zone. That is until he gave me another even BIGGER scare, which I will also write about later…. UGH. Honestly it makes me stressed to even think about. But other than that moment it was a perfect day. Especially since we ended it in the oceanside pool at our resort.

For our last day we spent the morning exploring the beautiful Sailport property. Zoey and I found lizards together and then she bawled when they got away from us. We found a beautiful bench swing overlooking the water, a dock that was perfect for fishing, fire pits on the beach with beach chairs around them, volley ball courts, a little cafe by the pool and so much more. We will definitely be staying at Sailport Waterfront Suites again.

After our morning walk we headed to church and then back to Orlando where our flight was leaving from. We had big plans to walk around something Disney (I can’t remember what it was called). But by the time we got there Zander was asleep and I was SO tired. Kris and Zoey got out and walked around. I didn’t even know it was possible, but I fell asleep in that tiny little car, cramped up on the front seat with Zander, for quite awhile.

Then we flew home! The trip was so quick and so memorable. I didn’t want to let it get too far in the past without writing about it. While I write this post we are in New York. But before we were here we visited the West Coast of Canada for a week! So next in line with my catch up posts is a recap of our Canada trip, and then I will share all about why we are living in a hotel in New York for a month!! So stay tuned…
