Some people look at the Mormon church (even a lot of members of the church) and say that because we put such a high emphasis on the importance of motherhood we are old fashioned, sexist or even oppressive to women. To me it is the other way around. By placing such a low emphasis on the vitality of motherhood the WORLD is degrading, belittling and aiding in the destruction of the very foundation of success in our society.
The LDS church does not ever say that a woman should not pursue other things in life or that a woman HAS to be a mother, they do however glorify the role that a mother plays in a child’s life in a way that the world does not. Truly what greater thing could be accomplished in life than to create and raise a HUMAN BEING. Just think about it for a second. I have so many things that I enjoy doing, now just as much as before I was a mother, but they pale in comparison when I look into Zoey’s big blue eyes and think that I have aided in the creation of an eternal little soul, what a marvelous creation she is. I have no regrets devoting every minute of every day to her.
