Ok I know it has been a couple weeks since our Florida vacation, but I still haven’t posted all the pictures… And I had a goal to start sharing my posts in real time. Like within the next day or two. Not realistic. My blog posts are always super belated, and probably always will be. So far I have shared day 1 – a trip to Clearwater Beach and day 2, DISNEY WORLD. This is day 3 in Florida, our last day!
Better late than never, right?
So these pictures are from Sunday, we visited Celebration, Florida. Celebration is a super cute little town that was designed to be the perfect community by Disney. I was looking up places to visit near our hotel Sunday morning and I came across it and it felt like FATE. Kris always talks about how cool it would be to design his own town. So the minute I started reading about visiting Celebration I knew we had to go.
The town was adorable! We went to town square and there was a cute little splash pad where Zoey played for hours. Zoey loved it, Zander HATED it, one drip of water on his feet and he’s start screaming. I think it was because he was overtired… Across the street was a theater and a candy store, and more shops. We went to the candy store. Zoey chose white chocolate, sprinkle covered rice crispy squares, Kris got a chocolate covered twinkie (and yes there were other options… so, just, why???) and I got chocolate Oreo bark, because if Oreo’s are involved, so am I.
The town was centered around a little lake that had beautiful walking paths around it. After we were done at the splash pad and finished our candy we walked around the lake. There were some beautiful, wooden lawn chairs set up so anyone passing by could sit and enjoy the view. We crossed a bridge over a river and saw ducks and a CROCODILE swimming through. We also found the most ginormous grasshopper alive. The pour little guy had unfortunately lost its ability to hop, so it was stuck with Zoey the whole time we lounged in the lawn chairs.
She was too scared to touch it, but she had a little stick and would gently push it in the direction she wanted it to go saying in a high pitched voice, “this way little guy, come on little guy! Go this way!”. She really had a good bond with the grasshopper, until Kris decided to give the grasshopper a voice, Zoey did not like what it said… 😂 Watch the video of that here, it is like 10 seconds and hilarious.
After that we got in the car and drove around a few neighborhoods with ginormous fancy houses. Apparently part of the design of the town was that all the houses would have balconies on the front and garages in the back. This way the houses not only look prettier, but it was a way to encourage friendship and community spirit. More idealistic than realistic, but I love that thought!
Overall visiting Celebration was such a great experience, we will definitely be back there again. I wouldn’t even mind living there… Side note – all our Celebration pictures are taken with Kris’ new iPhone 7 (a couple with my iPhone 6+ too, the more blurry ones). I am really impressed by the dual lens, depth feature! Obviously you can’t beat the quality of a professional camera, but for something that fits in your hand and your pocket so conveniently, I am really impressed!! I wasn’t going to upgrade my phone… but now I really want to. We took all our Disney World pictures with it too!
