We couldn’t come all the way to Oahu without visiting downtown Waikiki a few times. The North Shore is by far the most beautiful, quiet and serene part of the island, with a lot less of the touristy feel. Waikiki is always busy, lots of traffic, SO many tourists. It isn’t always what I want in my day to day life, but I love that busy city vibe now and then.

One of my favorite places to stop is Cheesecake Factory, which is right on the main street that runs along the beach. I know it isn’t special to Hawaii, but when I moved to Laie for school it was my first time living in the states. We don’t have Cheesecake Factory in Canada, so I experienced it for the first time during my college years. I have some really good memories of coming into town with friends and getting Cheesecake Factory.

So during this particular trip to Waikiki we walked along the strip and ended by grabbing some cheesecake and bringing it down to the beach with us. We ate our cheesecake on Waikiki Beach as the sun set. Waikiki Beach is always super crowded, but it is SO pretty that I don’t even mind. It was a perfect evening!

On the way back to our car we stopped in some of the shops and watched street performers along the way. My favorite part was when we went into this tiny surf shop and Zoey walked right up to this hanging half mannequin that had a t-shirt on it. It was right at her level. She pulled the shirt down and said, “look mommy! it has boobies!!!” and then she proceeded to hug it and tell me she loved it😂. After that she started dancing to the music that was playing in the store and yelling for me to take pictures of her while she did. It was a tiny store and she was kind of blocking the entrance as she twirled and swung her hips back and forth and did other adorable, made-up dance moves. The cashiers were watching and laughing so hard though so I didn’t move her.

It was such a great trip to Waikiki and we will definitely be back once or twice before we leave the island. xoxo

    1. She switches between being quiet when she meets people and being totally goofy. I always like it when she decides she wants to entertain whoever happens to be watching… LOL
