“Come play with me mommy!!!!” is probably the phrase Zoey has said more than any other in her short little life. And I hope it is one I never stop hearing. Especially the moment we hit the beach. She wants to build sandcastles, jump over the waves, build ‘houses’ out of tiny sticks and rocks and find bugs. I am not a huge fan of bug collecting so I usually leave that to her. Instead I build sand castles and splash with her in the water. Guys, the happiness in her little voice as she talks about the bugs and splashes me in the face over and over, the smiles and giggles, they make being a mom feel like the best thing in the world.
Lately I have noticed that the sand really dries out my skin. I love playing in it, but my hands and feet get irritated from the texture if I am not moisturizing constantly. Summer doesn’t have many downsides, but one for me is dry skin. When I get outdoors in the sun and sand, my hands, feet and legs get the worst uncomfortable dry skin feeling. I am the obsessive lip balm person who always has to apply more. If I see someone put on lip balm it makes my lips feel chapped all of a sudden. It is the same with lotion. If my hands feel dry, it is all I can think about. I always carry lotion with me everywhere, especially in the summer when I am more prone to dry skin.
Since a few people recommended it to me, I decided to give Curél Hydra Therapy lotion a try. I picked some up at Walmart. It wasn’t till I was looking at the bottle later that I realized it is actually called Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer. Wet skin moisturizer means you should put it on directly after you shower. After a shower is the best time to moisturize. Directly after showering your skin is better at taking in moisture. Usually lotion on wet skin makes things sticky or greasy. The cool thing about this Curél lotion is that it is made for wet and dry skin. Put it on the moment you finish your shower and then towel dry as you usually would. It absorbs almost instantly and is completely greaseless, the texture actually feels amazing on your skin.
I have tried a lot of different lotions, but haven’t found one that is more than a temporary fix. That is up until now. But with only a few days using Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer daily, I am already seeing a difference. My skin not only feels soft, but I am also starting to notice it looks healthier. Yesterday at the beach I noticed my legs had a slight glossy sheen. It was that glowing look I always imagine people photoshop into their pictures! I love how soft my skin feels with Curél Hydra Wet Skin Moisturizer. It is perfect for summer when you are more likely to be showing off your legs. I am going to keep using it after I shower and am hoping the results just get better and better.
We went to the beach at around 5pm last night and even though it was overcast, it was really warm. Almost uncomfortably hot and humid. Zoey loves playing in the sand, but after a few minutes of the heat, we had to jump in the water to cool off. Kris pulled out the camera while we were splashing each other in the water and looking through the pictures afterwards I started wishing he had told me how my currently-being-splashed face looked 😂. This was my face in 90% 0f the pictures… Sorry guys – I know it’s not attractive, but this is what real summer fun looks like 😜.
We are planning to spend as much time at the beach as possible this summer. So I will be needing all the extra hydration I can get. I just stashed this lotion in the shower so I can use it every morning before we head to the beach. Zoey and me are working our way towards entering one of those giant sand castle sculpture competitions. 😜 We can’t let anything slow us down, especially not dry skin!

I know this one is blurry, but I just love her smile as we run top speed towards the water – one of her favorite beach activities.
This is my favorite beach of all at Presque Isle. It doesn’t have a sign and only a few parking spots, so it is somewhat private compared to the rest. It goes on forever in both directions and it feels like the ocean. Also the grassy knolls everywhere, SO beautiful! I could live here…
At least we got one picture (kind of) posing in our matching swim suits. Zoey was much too interested in splashing me to hold still for a picture.
