When It’s Cold

What to do with the kids on a winter day – that is a question I ask myself ALL THE TIME. I would totally go out in the snow more, if it wasn’t so cold for little Zander. The wind is icy and even my little nature-loving Zoey can only last a few minutes before she wants to go inside.

People always compliment me on getting out and doing things as often as I do with a new baby – but the truth is I don’t. I just over post on social media whenever I do and it makes it look like more than it really is. Last week I went from Monday to Friday without leaving the house once. I don’t even know how it happened really… It was just so snowy and ya know, time got away from me. We really have everything we need at home. But it sure makes a difference in my positive mental state when I am able to get out of the house at least once every two days or so. SO I have been trying to think of things to do when it is snowy in Erie (suggestions are welcome).

Also I have been able to get out a lot more this week because I finally got a stroller that is perfect for both my babies. I have a regular single stroller, but Zander’s carseat doesn’t clip into it, and it is too hard to keep Zoey with me when she’s on foot. We also had a ginormous double stroller, but it was way too heavy and intimidating. I only used it once before I got rid of it. Zander’s carseat clips into the new Evenflo stroller AND it has a little kickstand for Zoey to stand on and help me push. She hates sitting in the stroller, but she loves the kickstand so it is perfect.

Here is the list of indoor activities I have found to do in Erie (with kids) – there are not a lot…

The Children’s Museum – thats where we are in all the pictures! It is not my favorite place to go – super old and feels a little dirty to me… But Zoey loves it. Literally, she cries every time we leave.

Millcreek Mall (Zoey loves the indoor play area)

Splash Lagoon – haven’t checked th is out yet but it looks amazing)

Apparently there is a greenhouse somewhere around here – my friend Kennedy (who took the pictures for this post!) went there and said it was beautiful to walk around

The library! – I love the Blasco Library down by the Bayfront, they have free crafts and story time for toddlers and Zoey loves it.

That pretty much sums up my list of indoor activities and things to do with kids in Erie during the winter… Any additions to the list would be much appreciated!

  1. Rachael, I have noticed parents (usually mother) out with their young ones and I am so impressed how much movement and action the kids get in. I think it would be interesting AND FUNNY to put a pedometer on their legs (AND ONE ON YOURS) and then see who does the most steps in a day. I’m voting for the two to ten year olds.
