Dress: Leota | Shoes: American Rag | Clutch: Old Navy

We spent the most beautiful afternoon wandering around the Erie Bayfront on Dobbins Landing. It is a cute little wharf that looks over to the Presque Isle Peninsula and has the cutest little restaurants, ferry cruises, beautiful views and even a fancy hotel. I love living in a new place where I still feel like a tourist and get to experience so many things for the first time! And I love our weekends together as a family… ❤️

Today I am 28 weeks pregnant! Crazy to think in two short weeks I will be in the thirties… (and I will be in HAWAII!!!!!!!) I can’t wait. I am definitely going to be packing this dress in my suitcase for the trip, it is so light and comfortable for hot, humid summer days. It is actually reversible which I thought was SO cool, I thought they only did that with kids clothing🙈. So it can either have a low back, high front or vice versa. This dress is maternity but definitely will be transitioning to my after baby wardrobe too since the style is flattering on all figures. I always wondered when to buy maternity clothes and now that I am almost done my second pregnancy I think I have some pretty good tips and techniques for maternity shopping.

When To Buy Maternity Clothes?

The simple answer, as soon as possible! Right when you start to pop is the perfect time, you are pregnant for such a short time so it is better to buy early and get more bang for your buck. Many maternity styles are designed to last throughout your entire pregnancy and even work after baby. Rather than waiting till nothing in your closet fits (which is the mistake I made!), invest in a few staple pieces right near the beginning.

Other Maternity Shopping Tips

Another tip is to invest in higher quality maternity clothes, with Zoey I bought a ton of cheap maternity tops because my logic was that I was only going to wear them a few months so why spend money. They wore out super fast and I put them all in a trash bag at the end of my pregnancy. This pregnancy I have been focusing on getting styles that will transition to post-baby days. Outfits that are neutral colors and classic styles can be worn multiple pregnancies. I have spent a little more money this time because I know I am getting items that I will get a lot more use out of.

I think that pregnancy is such a beautiful time of life. The extra curves look so cute and there are so many fun styles to dress up your bump. However I realize that when you are the pregnant one it can be difficult to feel as cute. When you feel so huge that it is hard to bend over or roll over in bed, or when you are doing the ‘pregnancy waddle’ in public, it can be hard to feel super attractive…  Sometimes when you feel sick day in and day out for months on end, it can be difficult to see that pregnancy glow when you look in the mirror. For me having some really cute styles in my wardrobe has really helped with combatting all the downsides of hyperemisis gravidarum and pregnancy! Kay now for a quick update.

Third Trimester Pregnancy Update

How far along: 28 weeks

Total weight gain: 10lbs, but it feels more like 50…

Baby’s size: 2.25lbs, 15inches, getting SO big!

Name: It is going to be a surprise! It is officially decided and I can’t wait to share it with you guys.

Cravings: Jimmy Johns, tangy sour things like peaches and lemon juice, chocolate

Favorite things about being pregnant right now: I am having another baby, and pregnancy is almost OVER!

Least favorite things: The baby kicks a lot when I am nauseous, I have painful braxton hicks ALL THE TIME. I feel exhausted.

Other things: Despite feeling exhausted I have really started to feel nesting mode kick in. I have gotten the nursery almost completely done, I have all the newborn clothes and diapers I need. I have been organizing our house like crazy and shopping for things to make our house more functional and clean. I have a midwife chosen and she seems AMAZING. I can’t wait to meet this baby!!!
