Watch Gift Ideas
Kris is impossible when it comes to gifting. When I ask what he wants he always says, “nothing!” and he means it. I try getting him to make a Pinterest gifting inspiration board, or write things down when he sees them in the store. I hint at ideas to see if they would be exciting to him. All that usually results in him saying to me in early November, “Hey babe, I am buying myself this sweater you found, you can count it as your Christmas present for me!!”. By the time Christmas or his birthday come around he has already bought himself all the gifts I can think of and there is nothing to surprise him with!
That is what happened with his Jord watch that he is now wearing proudly every time he goes to the hospital. I asked him if he would like a Jord wooden watch casually. He has very defined taste. It is rare that I can pick out something that he likes, so I had to check before making a purchase. What ended up happening is that he liked them so much that he got one right away! I should have known better than to ask. I mean, who wouldn’t love a hand crafted wooden watch that is as stylish as Jord? He got the gorgeous Hyde watch in Walnut and Black. So now I am back to square one with the Christmas shopping for Kris.
I am not totally hopeless though. Over the years I have developed a few techniques that help me come up with creative gift ideas for my difficult to gift husband. If you are like me, with a husband who is impossible to Christmas shop for, here are some ideas that may help.
Unique Ways to Come up With Gift Ideas for Your Husband
1. Use Pinterest.
Pinterest is my go to for unique, out of the box ideas. To use Pinterest for gifting, try searching for something your husband has and loves. For example, I would search ‘Jord wooden watch’. Once you have that, then browse related posts. You can even turn your search settings on Pinterest to show you shoppable pins only.
2. Ask his mom!
As much as we like to think we know our husbands best, there is someone else out there who gave birth to and raised him. Ask your mother in law for ideas, particularly hobbies that he loved as a kid and may still love. My husband used to do magic tricks a lot and still loves playing with cards, but this is something I might not have known without my mother in law to help!
3. Create something nostalgic.
Speaking of old hobbies and favorite things, creating something nostalgic is always a good go to for gifting. You could digitalize all the photos of your husband as a kid, or compile emails you wrote to each other when you were dating. Something full of happy memories is sure to make him smile.
4. Snoop in his browser history.
Under most circumstances this might be creepy. But with Christmas around the corner you have a legitimate excuse for snooping. Kris is always watching YouTube reviews of the newest technology that he wants. Just tonight I looked over and saw him watching a review of a stylus that allows you to write on your iPhone like it was a notepad…. I was bored after 2 seconds, but inspired with a gift idea!
5. Go with something classic!
If all else fails go with something classic and timeless, like a Jord wooden watch. You can even personalize it with a custom engraving that will give it lasting value and meaning. Even though I am still at a complete loss for what to get my husband for Christmas, at least he is looking irresistibly handsome with his new wooden watch. And hopefully this has given you all a few gifting ideas for the difficult to shop for loves in your life!!
