Last week I shared all the nursery essentials I curated on my baby registry, but nursery essentials aren’t the only thing I included on my baby registry. Another thing to think about when you are creating your baby registry is on-the-go essentials. On-the-go essentials are often missed on a baby registry, but essential to maintain your lifestyle after baby comes.
10 On-The-Go Essentials Every Mama Needs
Here are my top 10 on-the-go essentials that Gugu Guru recommended I put on my registry, using their personalized product recommendations tool. I am so glad I included each of these ten items on my baby registry as they have already been so helpful with the new baby!
1. Sofia Fima
Sofia Fima bags are absolute perfection and one of the first on-the-go essentials I would add to your baby registry. I own The Main Squeeze in blush. I don’t think I can ever go back to using another bag after having Sofia Fima in my hands. It is unquestionably high quality and style, and the design is super functional as a diaper bag, or a purse.
The thing that makes the Sofia Fima Main Squeeze bag perfect for a diaper bag is the organizational insert. I have The Momager Insert, which is perfect for packing all your bottles, diapers, toys, wipes, snacks, etc. There are also inserts designed specifically for the working professional woman, The Chief of Staff and The Senior Associate.
The idea is that you can have one insert packed for your work week, and when you get home for the day or weekend you can slide it out, and slide in your mom insert. It allows you to seamlessly go about your routine without the need to constantly unpack and repack your bag. Watch this video to see this gorgeous bag in action and get a better idea of how the inserts work.
If you want to be really inspired, head over to their website and read the story of how Sofia Fima’s founder began making these gorgeous bags. It is a quick read and will leave you feeling empowered and inspired!
2. StuckOnYou
Lunch boxes are another great item on the list of on-the-go essentials for a new mama. We always need snacks on-the-go, and something to pack them in is key. You know this if you have every found a forgotten cracker or shriveled fruit at the bottom of your purse… Not fun!
I absolutely love the StuckOnYou Bento Boxes that Gugu Guru recommended me. They are custom designed for your kid with the color, name and graphic of your choice. The best part is the removable insert that makes them super easy to clean and pack!
We won’t need one for baby girl for a few more months, but I still got one for each of the kids! How cute do they all look together?! This is a really fun one to add to your baby registry, especially if you shared your baby’s name with friends and family prior to the baby shower.
3. Covered Goods
I haven’t done a whole lot of breastfeeding with this baby, and I shared why in this recent post. BUT I have found these versatile nursing covers from Covered Goods super useful! They are definitely one of the essentials you should add to your baby registry.
Covered Goods are extremely versatile. They are great for pumping on-the-go, but the thing I love most is what a great carseat cover them make. Keeping baby cozy is so important in this cool fall weather and they provide a little extra barrier against the wind. They also double as a cover for the shopping cart seat, and can even be worn as a stylish scarf!
I got the Pink Posey from their Prints Collection, the Heather Gray from their Solids Collection, and the Black & Ivory Pinstripe from the Stripes Collection! It is fun to have a few different styles to change things up each time we go out.
4. Water Wipes
Diaper rashes are the worst! Especially for a newborn baby. It makes it so hard for them to sleep. In my five years of parenting I have found that the most effective way to beat a diaper rash is to rinse baby’s bum with water after each change, and air dry, at the first sign of redness. This can be hard to do when you are out and about. Water Wipes to the rescue!
Regular wipes can actually exacerbate a diaper rash. Water Wipes, on the other hand, can help gently remove bacteria, the same way rinsing with water does. They are perfect for on-the-go when a sink bath isn’t possible! I always have some Water Wipes in my bag.
I would definitely consider Water Wipes one of the essentials for every baby registry. Chances are if you don’t specify a brand for wipes you will end up with a variety of wipes brands that you may not like at your baby shower. Take the time to add this to your baby registry.
5. Baby Tula
I’ve given a few baby carry wraps a try with Zoey and Zander, but never found one that I was really happy with. I decided to give Baby Tula a try after lots of friends recommended their ring sling carrier to me. I was pulled in by their gorgeous prints and have fallen in love with how comfortable they are to wear.
With three kids the carrier makes it so I can tow all of them at once! Two in the double stroller, and one on my chest. We are planning our first flight with baby over the new year and will definitely have the Baby Tula with us for that trip.
Another Baby Tula item I found through my baby registry that will also be coming with us on our flights is their kids backpacks (all on sale now!!). I got one for Zoey and one for Zander. The prints are adorable, and they are perfectly sized for little people. They even have magnet clasps so the kids can easily open and close them themselves, and buckles on the chest, so they don’t fall off when the kids are running with them. Definitely a fun on-the-go essential.
6. Mumum
I absolutely love my Mumum food processor and am so glad I added it to my baby registry. If you like to create healthy food from scratch for your baby it completely simplifies the process. Rather than feeling like I have to rely on pre-made baby food when I am out and about, Mumum makes it easy for me to make my own.
On-the-go healthy snacks for your baby are so much easier with the Mumum food processor. It is definitely an essential for the baby registry if you plan to make your own baby food!
7. Crane
This is not necessarily an on-the-go product you stick in your bag. It is something that helps you and your kiddies stay healthy, so you can stay on-the-go. The weather is starting to cool down, and we are spending a LOT more time indoors. Cold and flu season are here in full force. With a new baby you have to be extra vigilant about preventing the cold and flu in your home. A humidifier is a great way to help support this goal, so you can keep your active, on-the-go lifestyle.
I love the Crane humidifier because not only does it work fantastically, it also is beautifully designed and fits seamlessly into your nursery decor. It is definitely a baby registry must have, especially for winter and fall babies.
8. MAM
Finding the perfect pacifier can be hard. It took a lot of trial and error for me with my second baby. When Zander first used a pacifier he would always develop a horrible red rash around his lips due to the moisture accumulation. I settled on MAM because it was the only pacifier I could find that was open around the lips, allowing for plenty of breathability. His rash immediately disappeared when I started using MAM. Since then I have been using MAM exclusively.
With this baby I stocked up on a ton of MAM soothers before she arrived. That way I can always have one with me, anywhere I go. We lose pacifiers like nobody’s business, so I like to keep them stashed in my purse, the car dash, stroller pockets, basically anywhere I can find space.
MAM pacifiers are made from skin, soft silicone that is BPA and BPS free. The soft material makes them ideal for early and easy acceptance. Zander was picky with soothers, but immediately accepted MAM. As a bonus they also have the cutest designs of any pacifier I have seen. They even come in glow in the dark options to make it easier to find them in the dark. Each one comes with a sterilizer box as well for easy cleaning.
9. b.box
B.box has a ton of different cute gear I love. I’ve been using their straw bowl snack cups, innovative and unique utensils and cute kid plates for awhile. The thing I love most from b.box for on-the-go essentials is their smock bibs! These smock bibs make feeding on the go simple because they completely cover your child’s arms and front. This design makes it much more difficult for kids to ruin clean clothes! The smock bibs also have a zip pouch hidden on the inside collar. This allows you to fold any mess up inside the pouch, and put it back in your purse for cleaning later. No mess!
10. PediPed
My last on-the-go essential for your baby registry is a good pair of shoes. I love Pediped because they are stylish, affordable and durable. Rather than getting one expensive pair of shoes, you can get several from Pediped.
Zoey and Zander have been wearing Pediped for awhile and I’ve been impressed by how long lasting they are. They stand up well to outdoor play. Adding Pediped to my baby registry essentials was an easy choice!
Getting out the door and enjoying life on-the-go can be quite difficult after baby, but these 10 essentials make it easier! Every parent is a little different though.
