10 Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before Having Kids

So much of social media and society focuses on how difficult it is to have children, myself included. I am the first to say that pregnancy and child birth were some of the painful things I have ever experienced in my life. BUT today I wanted to draw attention to some of the reasons that having kids is theeeee best decision I have ever made (aside from marrying their daddy). So here are ten questions you should ask yourself before having kids that illuminate some of the reasons being a parent is the best!

1. Do you like laughing? Hysterically?

Kids will make you do that. ALL. THE. TIME. The other day my three year old, Zoey, walked in on her daddy in the bathroom and ran out yelling, “Daddy has a tail!!!”

2. At the end of your life do you want to be surrounded by the ones you love?

I seriously can’t even count how many times a day Zoey says, “Hey mommy! I really love you!” Except it is more like, I reeee luh HUH-yoooo! Heart melting…

3. Do you know how to work hard, or do you want to learn how to?

I have never been so organized and productive. Kids kind of force you to stretch the limits and give your all.

4. Do you like cute, tiny, cuddly things that can make you smile even on your worst days?

Need I say more???

5. Do you want to pass on everything great you have experienced in life to the next generation?

I can’t tell you how fun it is to watch someone experience the ocean or ICE CREAM for the first time.

6. Do you want to participate in shaping our future society?

So much pressure, but if you are someone who cares about the future of our race this is a pretty crucial way to participate in creating that.

7. Are you ok with being so in love with something you would do literally ANYTHING to protect it?

I can’t count how many ‘breathing checks’ I have done on my sleeping babies. What I wouldn’t give to protect them and keep them safe…

8. Can you sacrifice for things that are important?

It is like good, better, best. Sleep is good, some sleep is better, kids are the best.

9. Do you know how to have fun??? Do you secretly still enjoy Disney movies and kid food??

Can I have some pb&j and Disney Princesses please?

10. Do you want to have the greatest thing money can’t buy?

Because seriously, a million bucks won’t make you as happy as these little smiling faces.

  1. I totally agree that there is NOTHING money can buy that can make your life as filled with laughter, love and complete satisfaction….BUT just wait till you have Grandbabies!!! Talk about icing on the cake!

  2. Ratchael, you pretty well said it all and what you might have missed in words
the pictures easily filled in any cracks. So so beautiful. And from an “Old Guy” having a family of kids and grand kids and great grand kids around you to help keep your mind sharp trying to remember all their names (especially if any of them have Hawaiian blood in them (which means they have thirty or forty more letters in their middle names) Actually I’m having trouble trying to remember which families they come from. You are so right. The Best. THE Best!!! THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I’m changing my slogan from “Make America Great Again”, to “Rachael Burgess has the cutest children alive”
