I think these pictures totally capture why summer is my favorite time of year. There is something so soul-lifting about being out in the summer sun and drinking it all in. These pictures are from our trip to Salt Spring Is. Which is the place where both Kris and I grew up! I am so glad Kris’ parents still live there so that we always have an excuse to go back and visit.

Grandma and Grandpa Burgess’ yard is full of fruit trees and berry bushes and veggies. Since berry picking is one of my favorite memories as a child, being in their garden always brings me back to my childhood. I don’t know why it fills my heart so much to see Zoey finding joy in the same things I loved as a kid.

Zoey couldn’t reach the cherries in the tree but she was great at picking them up off the ground. I had to stop her several times from putting a rotten, ground cherry in her mouth (ewwwww!!). She mostly just loved eating them right out of the bucket and spitting them out when she realized how sour they were.

While we were visiting I also discovered we may have a future soccer player on our hands, she kicked the Canadian beach ball around endlessly and squealed in delight the entire time. Ahhh… Please stay forever summer time. What is your favorite thing about summer?
