Where we stayed: ACME Hotel Chicago // Both Tops: Charlotte Russe
Chicago has been by far my favorite city to visit on the east coast. It is such a clean, beautiful city with a lot to do in it. Kris and I got to stay right downtown at the ACME Hotel Chicago for a night while Zoey stayed with family and it was an amazing getaway! ACME was the perfect location in Chicago because it is walking distance from a ton of amazing attractions. It is right in the heart of the city.
After leaving the hotel I got a personal email from them asking if I would be interested in helping them start an open mic night in their hotel bar…. I was so honored and excited about the idea I considered leaving Kris and moving to Chicago. Just kidding. But I thought it was an amazing idea and hope they find some other singers that live closer by to get it started.
We visited Willis Tower, Navy Pier, Eastman Egg Company, The Cloud Gate, Stans Donuts and a ton of other shops near by. We walked to all of those places and saw a lot of cool statues and landmarks and shops along the way. At the hotel we had a sauna and spa to relax in and the room was amazing! Totally modern and a great view of the city.
It was our last ‘escape’ before Kris started his second year of medical school and it was needed and enjoyed! I would recommend all families in medical school take full advantage of the summer off during your first year and have a ton of fun. It is a great way to buoy your spirits before you are in the thick of things again.
