Yesterday we spent the day exploring Toronto, neither of us have ever been before and Kris had a lighter load at school this weekend so he planned a surprise trip (isn’t he the sweetest??). We had NO idea what to do when we got to Toronto, so we got CityPASS and headed to the first place in our book of tickets which was the CN Tower. The view of the lake was breathtaking, and the city as well. There is something really magical about looking down on skyscrapers… If you were following me on Snapchat that day you could probably tell how much I enjoyed the view – my story has been ten times as long as normal the past couple days. Oops. Thats how you can tell when I am having a super good day, my snapchat story just gets longer and longer and longer…

The next place we went was the Ripleys Aquarium. We almost didn’t go because we are trying to save our moneys and it was $30 (doesn’t sound like a lot but when you are paying for med school…. YIKES… you don’t even want to know what our tuition costs are). Anyways we decided since we were on vacation AND since Z is obsessed with wishy’s (fishy’s) that we would go. OHMYGOSH. It was so worth every penny and more. It was like every aquarium I have ever been to, all together in one place, times two. We kept thinking we had come to the end and then there would be more. I literally have never seen Zoey so over the moon. Most people were quietly observing, she on the other hand was shriek-laughing and running and pointing, yelling “BIG WISHY!!!!” at the top of her lungs the entire time. The best part was a glass tunnel they have that you can walk through, it is really long, took about five minutes to walk through, and it goes under this giant shark tank. Sharks and rays literally swim over top of your head, it is insane, they are HUGE! Zoey was mesmerized by all the colors and fish in this section, but anytime a shark swam by she would run to me or Kris and hug our legs and say, “scary wishy!”, and then she’d stick her thumb in her mouth till it swam by. Sometimes Zoeys reactions to things are even better than the thing she is reacting to. Actually all the time.

The aquarium was right by the CN Tower which was convenient, especially with this chilly weather. It was much colder this week than last so I wasn’t sure if my new wrap would be warm enough, but I gave it a try since I am obsessed with the poncho look that has been popular this season. I was super impressed, it was like wearing a comfy warm blanket and kept me super cozy the entire outing. Also, did you notice my boots? I have to point them out because they are the fanciest boots I have ever worn, I am usually a discount shopper, thrift buyer, but the last two winters (my first two with snow) taught me that boots are not the place to skimp. When I got these in the mail I was almost scared to wear them because they are so nice, you can just tell by holding them that they are going to last years. If you are looking for a pair of boots to get you through the snowy days ahead look no further.

Anyway that was our first day in Toronto, I have much more to share but I will get to that a little later. First a random question – has anyone else noticed that there are no toilet seat covers in any public bathroom in Canada?? I have explored three provinces so far and have not found one, someone needs to share this invention with my Canadian brothers and sisters ASAP.

I am heading to bed – I am exhausted in the best way possible after walking around all day long. xoxoxox

  1. I love the pictures Rachael! The poncho is so cute I want to get one for your mom. So glad you got to explore Toronto. The best seat covers I have ever seen was in the Chicago O’hare airport. It was a plastic cover that automatically changed as you entered the stall. Must be expensive, but to be honest I hate the paper ones I find myself touching more surfaces I would rather not trying to make the darn things work. Maybe that’s why the Canadians have abandoned them, they are waiting to be abel to afford the automatic ‘cadillac’ version. Haha!
