We have been waiting anxiously to meet this gorgeous little girl. She is Harrison’s new baby sister (Zoey’s best friend – you’ll see him on my Instagram page sometimes). Aurora was born the day after my birthday on the 29th, but Zoey was sick with a really bad flu so we had to delay meeting her for a little bit.

I have been really curious to see how Zoey would react to a newborn, in case we ever have another kid in the future, so I was especially excited for Zoey to meet her. When she first saw her she didn’t really seem interested, she just ran off with Harrison to play with his large collection of trains and Mickey Mouse toys while Amey and I chatted. After a bit though I encouraged her to come back and asked if she wanted to hold the baby, she got excited at that idea and came and sat on my lap. It was literally the moment Aurora was in her arms Zoey’s eyes lit up, it was like she just barely realized this was a real live baby doll.

Her favorite thing was when baby Aurora would flail her arms and hit Zoey’s face, she would look at me grinning and giggling and tell me that the baby poked her. She was so excited every time that happened. She also kept stroking her hair and telling me how soft it was. She was totally amazed and so gentle with sweet baby Aurora… Until I tried to take her away because she was getting fussy. Zoey put her arms around baby and held as tight as she could while saying, “No I hold baby!” She cried a little when Amey had to take Aurora so she could nurse.

It honestly made my heart so happy to see how she connected with this new baby. Thanks Amey for giving Zoey the chance to hold a newborn for the first time!
