Shaina Will Live Two Lives In The Time Of One

My dearest sister Shaina just recently got married on December 18th, 2012 to Brian King. I have to say that they are the most perfect and darling match that could ever be imagined. Literally made for each other.
Now some people would raise their eyebrows at the idea of someone marrying a guy they had only known for nine months at the tender age of 18. But not if they knew Shaina.
For as long as I can remember Shaina been finishing what she starts as good, or better, than those around her in half the time. Being born a year and a half after me did not stop her from staying at the same place (or ahead of me…) in school all through our homeschool and college years.
We always seemed to work at the same places growing up and I was amazed that she could finish the same jobs as me in half the time just as well. I also remember that growing up she would pick up the same book it had taken me two weeks to finish, and read the entire thing in two hours.
In college especially Shay was never less than two weeks ahead in her coursework and somehow every semester managed to take her finals two weeks ahead of everyone else. And did I mention she can paint the most stunning portraits in about a tenth the time it takes her fellow classmates to finish theirs? During three hour class periods she spends 1/2hr painting – and 2 1/2 pretending to paint…
Well I think you get the picture, basically when Shaina told us she was going to marry the guy she met 9 months ago and started dating 3 months ago we all smiled and weren’t surprised, or worried. When Shaina knows she wants to do something, she is instantly ready to do it.
That is the reason I really believe that Shaina is going to live the equivalent of two lifetimes in the same amount of time that we are all enjoying just one. And Brian is in for the ride of his life.
So I think the song I wrote for Shaina’s wedding, Time Flies, is not only descriptive of how fast our childhood seemed to go, but also of Shaina’s outlook on life. Time is flying. Make the most of every second while you can.
XOXO,
PS. Most people exercise in clothes like the girls on the right and left. But not Shaina, she does things at her own pace, and her own style:)

  1. Rachael, your voice and your talent are awesome, and so is your love for your goofy sister. People like Shaina were born to keep us on our toes, I think, and show us that life can be much bigger than we thought. Your singing causes my heart to overflow through my eyes. Your baby is so blessed to be listening to those sounds as she grows. (Yeh, I think it’s a little girl incubating in there, but what do I know?)
