Six Days Old

Happy due date to me!!! I was due with Zoey on October 8th as well and I had both her and Zander exactly 6 days early. Their birth time was only a couple hours apart as well. Basically they are EXACTLY three years apart minus 2 hours… It is still so crazy to me that they were born on the same day.

October 2nd is the day I become a mother… TWICE. I think God knew how much I love coincidences like this and played a hand in giving me this special gift. For some people I am sure this wouldn’t be a big deal. For me it literally meant the world.

He is only 6 days old, but it feels like he has been with us forever. Zander has been a dream so far. He sleeps all night and most of the day. He only wakes up twice when I would normally be sleeping and he nurses and then goes straight back to sleep with no trouble at all. I have only heard him cry a handful of times. He smiles in his sleep sometimes, he hums a little in his sleep too now and then which is just adorable. Everyone who meets him comments on how much hair he has. I am just obsessed with his thick dark locks.

Zoey is adjusting really well to being an older sister. She absolutely adores Zander. I shouldn’t have worried so much about her having trouble sharing, she loves sharing with baby brother… In fact she always tries to give him toys and today when I picked him up I found that she had put her favorite toy car down his sleeve and it had slid down into his back. The only thing I have noticed is her being slightly more clingy than usual. If my mom offers to do something for her like make her food she always responds, “NO!! Mommy will do it!” with a look of panic. Before Zander was born she was happy for grandma to help her with everything. Kris and I have both been trying to make special time each day just for her and she seems to love that.

Being pregnant already feels like a distant dream. Although I still am getting used to the fact that I am not nauseous ALL THE TIME. It feels so bizarre to be able to eat whatever I want and not get sick, talk loudly and not get a stomach ache, not gag at the smell of mint gum. I can walk, run, roll over in bed, take a hot shower, LIE ON MY BACK, bend over, pick Zoey up, sing for a long time, bake, cook all without getting sick. What a blessing. It feels so weird to feel normal. It feels amazing. I feel like I can conquer the world.

Anyways I am going to be posting some older posts over the next few days that I had planned to give me a little break from blogging after I had the baby. I just wanted to share a little update with you guys. The pictures are all from yesterday when he was just 5 days old… I wish I could stop time right now. Life just feels perfect.

The only way I can get makeup on in the morning is if I let her put hers on too.

My first attempt at a baby wrap. Looks a little crazy, but super comfy for me and babe.
