Being a mom can be difficult. But it is full of so many moments that are more beautiful than anything to me. There is nothing more worthwhile. I created a human. With a little help from Kris – but mostly me. We just take it for granted that we have the capacity to MAKE PEOPLE – but think about it, it has taken 1000’s of years of knowledge to create the technology we have now, but without even thinking about it, we can create humans that are so much smarter, more beautiful and more perfect than even 1000’s of years of knowledge can create.

I shared this on my Instagram page awhile back but wanted to share it here so I wouldn’t forget. This poem was written by my great grandmother Hazel Pratt and I just want to keep it forever:

We walked together hand in hand when we were in our youth,

And you, my loving daughter, kept my feet in paths of truth.

Sometimes my faith would falter, and my steps were prone to stray,

Then I would feel your trust, and know that you would follow me someday.

We roamed our world so happily, explored each field and hill:

Felt a kinship with creation, longed to do our Father’s will.

How you loved the early crocuses, life’s renewal in the spring;

Sunsets, butterflies and birds; every wonder nature brings.

“Two girls growing up together,” my good father used to say,

And he must have spoken truth, for we were learning as we played.

Though the years have sometimes parted us, (in miles, but not in heart,)

I have gained much wisdom from the lessons you impart.

Many times through pain and heartache I have felt your hand in mine

As we’ve found new strength together, and matured with passing time.

Now my Mother-heart is grateful for the way you fill your role –

For the truths you share with others, for the good within your soul.

We’ve both been very richly blessed in our journey on this earth,

And our Father’s love has guided us to fountains of great worth.

Now you will pass this heritage in turn to those you love,

And help them build their mansions in Eternal realms above.

Hope you all are having a beautiful Sunday. xoxoxoxo
