Hosting a party for toddlers can get messy, so when my sweet friend Kayleigh offered to let me use her house to host my toddlers Halloween party I immediately said yes. We planned this party at the beginning of October. It felt early and I thought we would do plenty more Halloween celebrating before the month was over. I am so glad we went ahead and partied early though because this month got away from me and we didn’t do any more Halloween celebrating at all! This was it.
We are going out trick-or-treating later tonight and I only just bought Zoey’s costume yesterday. She is going to be a the most adorable little lamb I have ever seen. Zander will probably go back in the same bear costume he is wearing in this post if I can find it… Otherwise he might not be in costume 🙈. I am the worst when it comes to Halloween costumes. I feel like all my friends have been planning and posting and creating different costumes all month, and I am just like… Guess I will run to Target late at night on the 30th and grab whatever I can find in Zoey’s size. haha. Oh well, all she cares about is the candy.
I started taking down our Halloween decorations yesterday thinking no one would notice or mind. Kris immediately asked me why I was taking down the decorations the day before the one day that they actually mattered – Halloween day. Then Zoey started freaking out telling me that Halloween can’t be over because she didn’t trick-or-treat yet! I told her we could still go and she responded (angrily) that I HAD to leave the decorations up. I had already taken the Halloween banner half way down, and I am too short to put it back. Soooooo it is hanging sideways from the corner of the window. But it is staying up till we go trick-or-treating I guess.
Basically I fail at Halloween. But at least we had one fun Halloween party for Zoey and all her little toddler friends. The day was so memorable! On the way to the party Zoey said, in total awe, “Mommy! I can’t belief (she says belief not believe) that it is my birthday party today!!!! My Halloween birthday party…”. She was so excited and it just melted my heart.
Zander loved the party too because he got to eat endless amounts of dirt and candy. Every time I looked away for a second he would find a large taffy candy and start sucking it right out of the wrapper, but not before dipping it in dirt. He also liked rice crispy squares dipped in dirt. So yummy. Isn’t he just the cutest little dirt eating teddy bear though?! I died over this costume on him and loved the fact that he kept the hat on. I think it was because he was so distracted by the candy.
