Office Refresh for a Modern Office Design

Since I started working as a blogger really seriously in 2014, I have dreamed of having an in home office that I loved. When we were looking for apartments three years ago, that was the top of my list. The apartment we found had a basement room I thought would be perfect, but it ended up feeling too disconnected from the rest of the house. I couldn’t work down there while Kris was at work, and keep an eye on the kids. I didn’t use it much. When we were house-hunting, an office was back at the top of my priority list.

My new office is perfect! It has a walk in closet to hide all my work packages and products in. After years of boxes piled around my desk, this is a dream. It has two corner windows overlooking the neighborhood. It is right next door to the playroom, so the kids can play while I work. I have been enjoying it for a year, but the one thing it was missing was a couch! We decided to get the Novagratz Brittany Sleeper Sofa. So far we LOVE it!

There a few reasons I wanted a couch in my office. I prefer to work at my desk, but on long office days I like to switch it up a little and work somewhere comfortable. I also am one of those people who just likes to be around people. Even if we aren’t talking, I like Kris to be in the same room as me. Usually when the kids are in bed, I go to my office to work, and Kris heads to our bedroom to relax in bed, read, play on his phone, etc. With a couch, he can comfortably hang out with me while I work. It is also a great place for Zoey to sit and do schoolwork while Zander naps.

The final reason I wanted a couch for my office was for additional sleeping space. We have a guest room already, but often we have more than one room-full of guests at a time. For example, in just a few weeks my parents, two of my brothers (and possibly another), and my sister, are all coming to visit. While they could all squeeze in one room, I like that I am now able to use my office as additional sleeping space as well for guests.

Unlike most sleeper sofas, this mattress is actually quite comfortable. I don’t feel like I will need a massage after using it. The mattress is memory foam, and thick enough that you feel nice and cozy when you lay down. The kids and I have actually used it quite a bit to cuddle and watch movies!
